Director Spotlight: Lindsey Mebane

Rachel Nettleton

At Kern County Farm Bureau, our directors bring unique experiences, perspectives, and a shared passion for agriculture. This month, we are highlighting Director Lindsey Mebane and the agricultural roots that continue to shape her career and commitment to the industry.

Lindsey works as a Supply Planning Analyst for Grimmway Produce Group, where she focuses within the potato category. However, her connection to agriculture started long before her professional career. As a fifth-generation California cattle rancher, she grew up on her family’s commercial cow-calf operation in eastern San Diego County.

“Being raised in that environment gave me a deep appreciation for agriculture and ultimately led me to pursue a career in the industry,” Lindsey shared.

What Lindsey enjoys most about working in agriculture is the strong sense of connection it creates- to the land, to the people, and to the food we produce. She values being part of an industry that plays such an essential role in everyday life and understands firsthand the dedication required behind the scenes.

She also hopes more people understand how much planning and coordination goes into agriculture long before food reaches the grocery store shelves. In her role, balancing supply, demand, and logistics is a constant process to help products move efficiently through the supply chain.

When asked what advice she would give to someone interested in pursuing a career in agriculture, Lindsey emphasized the importance of hard work and patience. There are long hours and a lot of factors outside of your control.

“It’s not for the faint of heart,” she said. “But if you’re willing to put in the effort and stay committed, it can also be incredibly rewarding.”

She also encourages young professionals to stay curious, build relationships, and take every opportunity to learn as agriculture continues to evolve.

Lindsey’s decision to become involved as a KCFB director came from a desire to support and represent the agricultural community while helping preserve the ranching legacy that has been part of her family for generations.

“I’ve benefited from the leadership and work of those who came before me within this organization,” Lindsey said. “Serving as a director is a way for me to give back, support the industry, and help keep our ranching legacy strong for the next generation.”

We are grateful for Lindsey’s leadership, dedication, and continued advocacy for agriculture here in Kern County.
